Resolved Question: Any DIY's use PEX tubing for drainage?
22nd November 2009
We’ve got an older (1929) home and its got the original galvanized steel drain piping from the tub. It’s maybe 1 1/2″ diameter on the outside but corrosion buildup has reduced the interior diameter to maybe 3/4″ at most. Shower time is turning into bath time. Anyone here familiar with PEX in drainage applications? Anyone installed it themselves? I’d like to know how easy/difficult it is to work with for a do-it-yourselfer. We’re going to be taking up the bathroom floor in a few months to lay some travertine and if the plumbing’s all exposed by that work I’d like to replace it during the general bathroom updating.
